The 5th Annual Connecticut Chefs Challenge
took place at the Lincoln Culinary Institute
on 9/18 and the place was
PACKED! 8 of the best chefs in CT were there and ready to cook their show
stopping dish but could only spend $300 dollars to make 12 plates. The
competitors cooked in two rounds and after an hour of cooking, the chefs faced
the judges Joy and Judy, Ken Tuccio
, and Derrick Prince Masterchef 2
While they cooked, people had some brews, some drinks, had some food, and most
watched the action through the beautiful open windows that gave a nice view
into the kitchen and action.
After both rounds, host Chef Plum of PlumLuvFoods
came out and introduced all the
contestants one more time. And, then, finally, it was time to see the winners!
Earning the People's Choice award was Chef Carol Koty
of The Waterview
! Then, Plum got to the elite Top 3! Coming in
3rd was the most excellent and one of the nicest and talented guys around, Chef
Carlos Baez from The Spread
! Second went
to the newcomer to the competition, taking a spot at the last minute but wowing
the judges with dish: Chef Dan Monroe of The
. And, taking home the belt that he wore the entire night at the afterparty
at Bar 140
: Chef Adam Bedini
It was such a blast this year, and we look forward to next year! From what Plum
says, this event grew by leaps and bounds and we were so proud to be a part of
it and to be one of the promotional partners! And, we are so happy to see over
$20,000 was raised for Optimus Health Care

On Friday, September 18th join Optimus Foundation for a culinary night to remember at the Lincoln Culinary Institute
in Shelton. Enjoy an evening of food, music and raffles while eight of CT's top chefs compete for this year's champion
The 5th Annual CT Chefs Challenge to Benefit Optimus Foundation
Community Health Network of CT and Pullman & Comley
The event will consist of two rounds of culinary battle, each chef has one hour and a maximum budget of $300
to prepare 10 plates of their signature dish. No ahead of time cooking in this battle of culinary excellence.
Each chef is allowed to bring one Sous Chef as well as utilize Lincoln Culinary students to help them be the
champion. The dishes will be judged on "Taste, Creativity and Presentation". The top scoring dish will win the
championship belt and the $1,000 grand prize!
Attendees will also have the chance to choose a "People's Choice"
winner with a purchase of a Tasting Ticket that allows guests to taste each chef's dish at the tasting tables.

This years host is Chef Plum from Plum-Luv-Foods
Born in Richmond Virginia is a graduate from The Culinary
Institute of America with over 18 years of experience. Having worked all over the east coast in five star hotels
and resorts to great small neighborhood restaurants. Plum-Luv-Foods was born in 2006 and since then has brought
great whole farm foods to families, small parties, Broadway actors, executives Chef Plum has been featured on
Food Network, ABC's The Taste, Ehow.com, Jamie Olivers Foodtube, national commercials and many other outlets
Chef Plum Hosted the All Recipes.com segment on the nationally syndicated "Better" show on the Hallmark channel.
Recently Chef Plum was the winner of Episode 2 of "Guys Grocery Games" on the Food Network. Chef Plum has a
passion for simple easy farm foods believing great food doesn't need gimmicks. Chef Plum's latest brainchild
Dinner Underground has brought a series of pop up restaurants to Newtown and Danbury. Chef Plum is the first
chef to ever host a pop up restaurant inside the walls of mall kitchen giant Williams-Sonoma. Chef Plum's
podcast "Plumluvfoods Live", is a popular show amongst those in the culinary field and even those who just
love food! The show covers all angles of the business and has had great guests such as Troy Johnson from
Food Network, Beau Macmillan, Emmy award winner Paul Mercurio and many more! The show is live Monday nights

Chef Prince was a finalist on Fox's Masterchef and is currently the Sous Chef at the acclaimed Stanton Social Club under
Chef Chris Santos. Chef Prince has judged many competitions with his discerning pallet including the Bacon and Beer Classic
at City Field and the Ny Best Wings festival.
Judy and Joy, identical twins with a passion for food, cooking and anything to do with the kitchen! These Cookbook authors
have had appearances on The Talk with Julie Chen, The Hallmark channel, Food Network and many more! They have their own syndicated
food column for Hersam Acorn Publications, and appear regularly on WFSB Better Ct., Fox, NBC and WPIX NYC.
Ken Tuccio is a comedian, writer and personality best known as the host of the weekly Welcome To Connecticut Podcast, which features
casual conversations with unique personalities from across the United States. Past guests on the show include Adam Richman
(Man vs Food), Jerry Springer, Aaron Sanchez and many others.
